VRFA: Cause of Auburn mobile home fire was accidental

Valley Regional Fire Authority Fire investigators determined the cause of an early Friday morning mobile home and barn fire in Auburn to be accidental, with the most probable cause being electrical in nature.

Valley Regional Fire Authority Fire investigators determined the cause of an early Friday morning mobile home and barn fire in Auburn to be accidental, with the most probable cause being electrical in nature.

The fire – located in the 6100 block of South 287th Street and first reported to 911 around 2 a.m. – completely destroyed a single-wide mobile home and a barn. Another outbuilding and a truck received moderate fire damage.

The only resident of the home, an adult male, is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.

First-arriving VRFA firefighters found that the lone occupant of the residence had escaped uninjured.

The home, barn and several outbuildings were located down a long driveway in an area without fire hydrants. Firefighters shuttled water from several blocks away to the scene. The fire was declared under control.

The incident required the assistance of firefighters from South King Fire and Rescue as well as the Kent Fire Department.

There are no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.

No major roadways were impacted.
