The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 265 calls for service between March 25 and 31, among them the following:
March 25
Aid call: 7:05 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a senior citizen who had fainted, and King County Medics transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
March 26
Aid call: 1:13 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a middle-aged man who was suffering from seizures left him in his son’s care after he had refused medical treatment.
March 27
Brush fire: 6:18 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters hustling to a brush fire along the shoulder of Highway 18 found a slow-growing, 50-by-50 foot fire, whereupon they broke out the hoses and drowned the conflagration.
March 28
Minor fire: 1:12 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters called to investigate a minor fire found the remains of an outdoor cooking fire that had not spread beyond where it started to nearby combustibles. The homeowners had already picked up fire extinguishers and killed the fire by the time firefighters got there.
March 29
Oven fire: 2:55 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to an oven fire in the 12900 block of Southeast 309th Place found in an oven a large grease fire, which they quickly extinguished, with minimal damage to the kitchen. The culprit in the oven was fatty goat meat.
March 30
Aid call: 9:31 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters evaluated a woman, and a private ambulance transported her to MAMC.
March 31
Smoke investigation: 7:11 p.m.,(North Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of smoke in the 3600 block of West Valley Highway searched the area for the origin of the smoke and found it in an attended, 5-by-5-foot yard waste burn outside a home. Firefighters found the errant resident, explained the burn permit requirements and helped him or her extinguish the fire.
