VRFA fire and rescue blotter | Aug. 25

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 254 calls for service between Aug. 14 and 20, among them the following:

Aug. 14

Hazardous materials: 12:24 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and South King Hazmat 61 responded to a leaking fuel tank on a generator, removed said generator from the garage and aired the house.

Aug. 15

Brush fire: 3:03 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a brush fire in a field snuffed out the flames before they could reach nearby trees.

Aug. 16

Aid Call: 7:20 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters examined a woman who’d injured her leg in a fall, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).

Aug. 17

Aid call: 3:59 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a teenager who’d injured her arm, and a VRFA aid unit sped her off to MAMC.

Aug. 18

Accident: 4:38 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics stabilized a middle-aged man who had sustained significant trauma in a motorcycle accident, and then transported him to Auburn airport, where Airlift Northwest was waiting to fly him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Aug. 19

Aid call: 8:32 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a young man who had been stabbed, and a VRFA aid unit transported him to a local hospital.

Aug. 20

Tree fire: 1:19 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters extinguished flames in several trees that had caught fire while a homeowner was cleaning his gravel with a weed burner. The fire did not reach the home.
