July 4

Aid call: 9:20 a.m., (Algona). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to help a woman suffering from respiratory distress. Arriving firefighters could see that the woman was fighting for each breath, so they began helping her. Those firefighters also asked King County Medics for further evaluation and to transport the woman to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC).

July 5

Grass fire: 3:55 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters quickly extinguished a grass fire near Mount Baker Middle School. Several area citizens helped by moving fire hose.

July 6

Aid call: 2:10 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to an elderly woman suffering chest pains. Firefighters dispatched King County Medics because of the severity of the woman’s illness. King County Medics treated and transported the woman to ARMC.

July 7

Aid call: 11:39 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Ellingson Road to help an older man with stroke symptoms. Firefighters evaluated the man, and a private ambulance transported him to St. Joseph’s Hospital in stable condition.

July 8

Possible explosion: 1:02 a.m., (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responded to the Lakeland Hills area for the report of an explosion. After investigating the area, firefighters couldn’t find a trace of any explosion.

July 9

Residential fire: 11:06 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a vehicle fire found in a driveway a fully engulfed car fire that had extended into the attached garage of the residence. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, confining it to the garage and vehicle and keeping it from spreading to the attached residence. Damage to the garage was extensive, and the car was destroyed.

Aid call: 1:34 a.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters treated a young man who had sustained a head laceration after crashing his bike while riding without a helmet down Auburn Way South. King County Medics evaluated the young man, and a private ambulance transported him in stable condition to ARMC.
