July 5

Fireworks: 10:42 a.m., 6600 block of Nathan Avenue Southeast. Police confiscated some no-no fireworks and disposed of them at the GSA facility.

Theft from motor vehicle: 1:45 p.m., 1100 block of Auburn Way South. A woman left the keys to her vehicle on the trunk of said vehicle, whereupon persons unknown with larceny in their hearts walked up, stole the keys and swiped her purse.

Vandalism: 7 a.m., 11800 block of 318th Place. A man found a bullet hole in his vehicle, parked at Lea Hill Homes.

Recovered stolen property: 2:50 p.m., 340 E. Main St. A man brought into the police department a cell phone that he had bought on Craigslist. He told officers that when he found out the phone had been stolen, he wanted to turn it in.

Theft: 12:05 p.m., 101 E. Main St. Somebody stole a bracelet from Nelson’s Jewelry. Police have identified a possible suspect. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.

Theft: 1 p.m., 101 E. Main St. A man and a woman walked into Nelson’s Jewelry, and while the man distracted an employee, the woman stole an entire display of sample rings from the front window. Police did not disclose a value for the missing items.

July 6

Theft: 12:46 p.m., 101 Auburn Way S. Somebody swiped a man’s wallet while he was at Safeway. Police did not disclose a value for the loss.

Animal problem: 8:34 p.m., 11700 block of Southeast 302nd Street. A pitbull bit a police officer. The cooperative owner contained the dog, pending further investigation by animal control.

Theft from vehicle: 5 p.m., 1818 Emerald Downs Drive NW. An Auburn resident reported that on June 19, somebody had stolen from him or her a bag containing gold and silver coins of undisclosed value.

July 7

Vandalism: 8:25 a.m., 6200 block of Perry Avenue Southeast. Some yahoo chucked an egg at a car benignly parked on a city street.

July 8

Burglary: 7:02 a.m., 1520 Industry Drive S. Unknowns unlawfully entered a Puget Sound Energy substation and helped themselves to 100 feet of copper wire, value unspecified.

Theft: 8:59 a.m., Evergreen Way Southeast. Somebody stole City property. What was that public property? Police didn’t say.

July 9

Traffic offense: 2:04 a.m., 3000 B St. NW. Police arrested a man for racing, impounded his vehicle, and cited his four passengers for unlawful race attendance.
