Between June 13 and June 18, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 176 911 calls for service, among them the following:
June 13
Aid call: 11:22 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters helped a female with symptoms of chronic back pain. The patient was determined to be medically stable and made an appointment with her doctor to be seen the same day.
June 14
Car in river: 12:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to reports of a car in the Green River. First arriving units found that the object was in fact a metal picnic table that had been in the water for some time.
June 15
Grass fire: (Pacific). Firefighters responded to the 100 block of Chicago Boulevard South for a grass fire next to a fence. Firefighters found that a neighbor had already extinguished the fire. A cedar fence sustained minor damage and firefighters notified the owner. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
June 16
Bus fire: 2:26 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a report of a propane fire with explosion at the 1400 block of Thornton Avenue Southwest. First arriving units found a passenger bus fully involved in fire. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and discovered a male victim who had second-degree burns to his arms and head. King County Medics treated the patient and transported him to Harborview Medical Center.
June 17
Vehicle fire: 4:22 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and the Washington State Patrol responded to a motorcycle accident on Westbound Highway 18 west of C Street. Firefighters arrived to find not only an accident, but also a car fire about 100 yards to the west. Firefighters split crews, having the aid car attend to the motorcycle accident, and the fire engine attack the car fire. After successfully snuffing out the blaze, firefighters turned the scene over to the Washington State Patrol for investigation.
June 18
Aid call: 9:31 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters and King County Medics to a patient suffering chest pains. Firefighters and paramedics examined, treated and prepared the patient for transport to a Seattle hospital via private ambulance.
