May 9

Aid call: 1:10 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded with King County Medics to an older man complaining of general weakness and dizziness. Courtesy of an interpreter via teleconference for the hearing impaired, firefighters determined the man had a history of syncope episodes. A private ambulance transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.

May 10

Accident: 11:45 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a woman who had sustained serious injuries in a car accident on Highway 167. King County Medics transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Burn complaint: 5:51 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters investigating a burn complaint informed the perpetrator that outdoor burning is not allowed and asked him to extinguish the fire.

May 11

Aid call: 7:06 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics responding to an older man with chest pain checked him out and a private ambulance transported him to ARMC.

May 12

Aid call: 2:21 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a north Auburn business to help a man who had possibly cut off his finger bandaged the wound and transported the man to Valley Medical Center.

Minor fire: 8:04 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a South Auburn home, where they found an extinguished fire that had started on a cook top and spread to the cabinets above the stove. The resident’s smoke detector alerted the residents, and they were able to snuff the fire. Firefighters viewed the cabinets and surrounding walls with a thermal imaging camera but found no sign of fire extension.

May 13

Automatic fire alarm: 12:44 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responded to a Lea Hill apartment building for the report of a fire alarm, where they found that a fire extinguisher, maliciously used, had activated the alarm. Crews quickly put the system back in service and helped to remove the extinguisher residue. The site was turned over to Auburn Police for investigation.

May 14

Aid call: 5:35 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to the 200 block of Portland Court SW, to a report of a man with heart problems. Firefighters evaluated the man, and King County Medics transported him to ARMC.

May 15

Commercial fire: 3:52 p.m., (Kent). Firefighters responded to a Kent apartment complex to help the Kent Fire Authority deal with a two-alarm commercial fire that had started in the kitchen of an apartment unit. Firefighters evacuated the occupants, extinguished the fire and removed the smoke in the building. The Kent Fire Authority is investigating the incident.
