Sept. 29

Accident: 4:23 p.m., (Pacific). Having responded to a car accident involving a pregnant woman, firefighters found the woman trapped in her car in a three-foot-deep wetland. After firefighters rescued the woman with a ladder, they motored her off to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Sept. 30

Aid call: 12:46 p.m.,(Algona). After firefighters treated a man who had fainted, a private ambulance hustled him off to Valley Medical Center in Renton for further evaluation.

Oct. 1

Fire alarm: 12:57 p.m.,(Auburn). As food cooked in a homeowner’s stove, he fell asleep on his couch. A neighbor heard the man’s smoke alarm sounding and called the VRFA.

Oct. 2

Car vs pole accident: (Lea Hill). A car accident severed a power pole in the 30700 block of 132nd Avenue Southeast, without injuries. Firefighters closed the road for more than an hour and power stayed out for nearly two hours until workers had removed the pole and repaired the lines.

Oct. 3

Aid call: 1:58 p.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters treated a senior citizen who had tripped over a curb and injured himself. A VRFA aid car transported the man to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

Oct. 4

Dumpster fire: 6:22 p.m.,(Auburn). Firefighters hustling to an apartment complex to snuff out a Dumpster fire found that one of the residents had already used a fire extinguisher to knock down the fire. Firefighters then used their hand lines to complete the job. Seems that somebody had dumped hot BBQ briquettes into the Dumpster.

Oct. 5

Aid call: 7:30 a.m.,(Lakeland Hills). Firefighters examined a senior citizen who had dislocated her hip and could not move, applied a pelvic splint and transported her to MAMC for further evaluation and treatment.
