A sampling of calls April 27-May 3

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 222 calls for service from April 27 to May 3, among them the following:

April 28

Smoke from heater: (Lakeland Hills) 5:12 p.m. Firefighters responded to a report of smoke from a heater. Firefighters arrived at a single-family home, investigated, and found the furnace had malfunctioned. The homeowner had already shut off the furnace and the gas. There was little heat left and no CO. Firefighters advised the homeowner to contact an HVAC contractor to service the furnace.

Barn fire: (Bonney Lake) 8:55 a.m. Firefighters responded mutual aid with East Pierce Fire for a fully involved barn fire. Personnel assisted with making a water supply for first in units and returned back to our first due area.

April 29

Dive call: (Tukwila) 4:58 p.m. Divers responded with other Zone 3 rescue personnel in search of an adult male in the Duwamish River. Several searches were performed along the river with no results.

April 30

AFA: (Lea Hill) 12:41 p.m. Firefighters responded to an automatic fire alarm at Green River College to find that there was small fire that was extinguished upon arrival. There was minimal damage and the fire is under investigation at this time.

May 1

Commercial vehicle fire: (Auburn) 12:42 p.m. Firefighters responded to a piece of commercial rail equipment on fire at the railyard. Crews arrived to find a small fire in the cab of machinery and extinguished.

May 2

Electrical hazard: (Auburn) 9:01 p.m. Firefighters responded to an electrical hazard outside a residence. An unknown source of electricity was found to be creating smoke under a concrete slab. The area was cordoned off and PSE was dispatched for further assistance.

May 3

Aid call: (Lea Hill) 2:01 p.m. Firefighters responded to an elderly woman that had fallen. The patient was evaluated and treated at the scene and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center by a private ambulance.
