The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 174 calls for service between April 18 and April 24, as follows:
April 18
Aid call: 4:34 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to a woman complaining of extreme abdominal pain looked her over, then helped transfer her to a private ambulance bound for St. Francis Hospital.
April 19
Aid call: 8:40 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped an older woman who had been complaining of stroke-like symptoms, and then a private ambulance transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
April 20
Aid call: 3:34 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to an unresponsive woman, discovered she had suffered a seizure after a migraine headache and transported her to ARMC.
April 21
Dive call: 7:26 p.m., (Tukwila). Firefighters trained as water rescue technicians rode to the rescue as part of a Zone 3 Technical Rescue Response to a car with occupants down in the Duwamish River. Zone 3 divers recovered the driver and transferred him or her to King County Medics and firefighters, who performed CPR. VRFA firefighters supported Zone 3 divers from Renton Fire to perform a sweep of the vehicle to confirm that nobody else was inside the submerged car.
April 22
Aid call: 5:48 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a report of a woman having a baby arrived to find the patient in active labor, with the baby crowning. Firefighters delivered a baby girl seven minutes after arriving on scene. Mom and baby were treated and then a private ambulance transported them to ARMC, where both were doing well.
April 23
Water leak: 1:19 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responded to help a homeowner who had suddenly caused a leak at his backyard faucet. Water was spraying the back yard. Firefighters shut off the water to the home and then found the leak. Firefighters showed that homeowner how to fix the problem and how to re-establish water to his home.
April 24
Aid Call: 8:48 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters helped a woman complaining of back and hip pain, then a private ambulance transferred the patient to ARMC.
