Daisy Elly Petersen passed away in her Auburn, Washington home at age 83 on January 13, 2012 attended by her family. She was born November 22, 1928, in Aalborg, Denmark, one of eleven children of Anna Valborg and Sven Anton Jensen. She was pulled from high school to help with the family household.After WWII she met and married Erling Valentin Petersen in Kobenhavn’s Radhus. Three children soon followed. In a dismal post-war economy, they struggled to raise their family in a cramped apartment. Yearning for a better life, Erling immigrated to Canada in 1956. Daisy left her beloved Denmark with her children and joined him in Toronto a year later. After 10 years and another daughter they immigrated to Auburn, Washington. Daisy will be remembered as a giving, caring women who loved to travel with her family. She remained strong and feisty to the end. She enjoyed bingo and trips to Reno, Denmark and other destinations. She was the consummate Danish housewife and cook. There was never a shortage of good food, “kaffe” and treats at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband Erling in 1994, and is survived by her siblings Hardy, Birthe and Ib, in Denmark; her children Berit Petersen, Auburn; Ben Petersen, Fall City, Connie McMurray, Sequim; and Brenda Parcher, Maple Valley; eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.Friends and family are invited to share in the celebration of her life. There will be an Open House at her home in Rio Verde Estates between 1-7 PM on Saturday January 28, 2012. Come and share your memories. No service by request.
