Otto Erfle

Otto Erfle of Auburn, WA passed away peacefully on February 27, 2011, at the age of 86. He was born in a sod house on the farm in Chaseley, North Dakota on September 11, 1924. He resided in Auburn since 1956. Otto is survived by his children; Wayne (Jill). Darrel, Alan (Carol), Ihlys, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lila Hirschkorn, and brother Melvin (Janis) Erfle. In his early years he worked as a farmer in North Dakota until 1956 at which time he moved to Auburn and worked at Boeing for 30 years until retirement. Otto married Violet Ruth Olschlager in 1944 and together raised four children. She passed away in 1991 from cancer. He then went on to marry Gloria Ross in 1993. Then they divorced in 2010. Otto enjoyed fishing, gardening, collecting cobalt and head vases, canning, making homemade bread and German sausage, and woodworking. Otto was preceded in death by his parents Conrad and Ida, wife Violet, sisters Helen and Mavis, and brothers David and Doug. Family and friends will forever miss his witty sense of humor and unconditional love. Funeral services were held at Price-Helton Funeral Home.
