Auburn Mountainview girls lacrosse gets first ever varsity win over Tahoma 18-13

The Auburn Mountainview girls lacrosse program got their first ever win as a varsity program this past week with a 18-13 shellacking of Tahoma on Wednesday.

The Lions were boosted by Auburn High School senior Kristen Dick’s 10 goals in the contest. Dick scored seven goals in the first half, including three in a row in less than two minutes.

The Lions added another eight goals in the second half, with Hannah Morse adding five goals in the contest and Madison Goodwin chipping in with three goals.

Emilie Starkel was credited with an assist for Auburn Mountainview and goalie Kayla O’Grady stopped 13 of 26 shots in the net.

The win is Auburn Mountainview’s first since they begin competing in the Washington State Division II varsity league.

For Tahoma, Allie Wilson notched five goals, with Brenna Stroup adding four, Lisa Harrington two and Carmin Atrops and Rylee McCauley chiming in with a goal apiece. Tahoma goalie Hannah Brown made eight saves on 26 shots.

On Friday Auburn Mountainview fell 15-4 to Holy Names.

Morse scored two goals, with Starkel and Goodwin adding one apiece. Auburn goalie Katie Burkhauser notched 16 saves out of 31 shots.

The Lions are currently 1-5 and will resume play after spring break with a match against Mercer Island at 6 p.m. April 14 at Auburn Mountainview High School.
