Auburn Mountainview still in the playoff mix | Baseball

With three games left on the schedule and a logjam in the middle of the South Puget Sound League 3A standings, Auburn Mountainview still is in contention for a playoff spot despite an 11-3 loss to Decatur on Wednesday.

Despite jumping off to a 3-0 first inning lead, the Lions allowed the Gators to come alive in the middle innings to put away the game.

Derek Stephen led Auburn Mountainview with three hits and an RBI. Shawn Guinn was tagged with the loss.

Auburn Moutainview is in a close race for a playoff spot in the SPSL 3A with a 5-6 league record, 7-9 overall. The Lions will close out their season with a rematch against third-place Decatur (5-5, 5-8) and games against fourth-place Peninsula (5-5, 6-6) on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

Enumclaw is first in the SPSL 3A with an 8-1 record (12-1 overall) and Bonney Lake is second at 6-5 (6-8 overall).
