The Auburn Riverside girls had no problem advancing to the next round of the West Central District winner’s bracket, blowing by South Kitsap 85-45 this past Wednesday at Auburn Riverside High School.
The Ravens (17-6) piled up a 53-14 first-half lead against the Wolves (12-11) and coasted in the second half to earn the win and advance to a round-two district showdown with Graham-Kapowsin (18-4) on Friday.
Auburn Riverside had four players in double figures, with Mercedes Wetmore scoring a game-high 18. Nicole Jackson added 15 and Kat Cooper had 14 points. Brook Hinkens chimed in with 12 points.
South Kitsap was led by Samantha Gulisao and Tori Fairweather, who had eight points apiece.
The Ravens will face Graham-Kapowsin at 6 p.m. Friday at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma. The winner of the game will move on to play the winner of the Federal Way (19-4) versus Bellarmine game at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Puyallup High School. The winner of the Raven versus Graham-Kapowsin game will also be guaranteed a trip to the state tourney.
The loser of the game will play the loser of the Gig Harbor versus Bethel game for a chance to earn the No. 4 seed into the state tourney.
