The Auburn Riverside girls basketball team’s record fell to 11-3 on Monday morning with a 54-45 non-league loss to Juanita at the Matin Luther King Jr. Showcase at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

Against the Rebels (5-10 overall) the Ravens (6-2 league, 12-3 overall) never seemed to find their rhythm, shooting just 26.9 percent from the field, or 18-of-67.

Although the team seemed to be suffering the effects of an early 9 a.m. start time at the tourney, Auburn Riverside coach Derek Pegram said it wasn’t a factor.

“We had practice at 6:30 in the morning before the game, the girls were ready to go,” he said. “We just didn’t play very smart, we had a lot of turnovers. They didn’t fight very hard. Normally they’re just balls to the wall, but today the fight wasn’t there. We just didn’t fight.”

The Ravens were also hampered by the illness bug, with Peyton Dunne and Kiana Drumheller both home sick.

“Those are two girls that started for us on Friday,” Pegram said. “We just need to get healthy and get together. We haven’t been together as a team since we played Seattle Prep (on .”

McKenzi Williams led the way for Auburn Riverside with 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.Kristina nelson had seven points and six rebounds and Faith Turner and Ayanna Ford had 10 rebounds apiece.

The loss was the second in a row for the Ravens who fell 57-48 to South Puget Sound League 3A foe Sumner on Friday, giving the Spartans (7-1, 11-3) sole possession of first place in league.

Auburn Riverside resumes league play Tuesday with a 5:45 p.m. game at Auburn Mountainview (4-4, 7-7).
