Auburn Riverside grad Cam Vickers named to Daktronics Division II Men’s Soccer All-West Region Team

Former Raven and current Sonoma State Seawolf soccer player Cam Vickers was named to the 2010 Daktronics Division II Men’s Soccer All-West Region Second Team on Tuesday.

Vickers, a forward, led the California Collegiate Athletic Association in assists this season with 12 and is just three assists away from breaking the school record for most career assists — he has 31 career assists in three seasons with Sonoma State. He was named the CCAA tournament’s Most Outstanding Offensive Player for passing out an assist on the game-winning goal against No. 6 Cal State San Bernardino in the semifinals and scoring the game-winning goal in the championship match against No. 24 Cal State Dominguez Hills. The goal was his third of the season and ninth of his career.

“I am very happy for Cam because somehow he was overlooked for the CCAA All-Conference honors,” Sonoma State head coach Marcus Ziemer said, “but he led the conference in assists and has been a clutch performer for us.”

The Daktronics All-West Region Team is voted on by the region’s Sports Information Directors. As a First Team honoree, Hall will now be considered for the 2010 Daktronics All-America vote, which will be released in early December.

Sonoma State, the 2010 CCAA Men’s Soccer Champions, finished its season at 14-6-1 after a 2-1 loss at Chico State in the first round of the 2010 NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament.
