Auburn Riverside will snag third or fourth in SPSL North 4A despite losses to Tahoma and Kentlake on Saturday; Auburn finishes season with 8-5 victory over Jefferson | SPSL North 4A Baseball

Auburn Riverside closed out their regular season with two losses this past Saturday.

At 4 p.m. the Ravens (10-6 league, 12-8 overall) fell 11-9 to South Puget Sound League North 4A champs Tahoma (16-1, 18-1) at Auburn Riverside

Riverside, trailing 11-7 in the top of the seventh inning, scored two runs in the frame but were unable to catch the Bears.

Brandon Uhler had three hits, three RBIs and a home run for the Ravens. Pitcher Taylor Maples was tagged with the loss.

Spencer Hobson was awarded the win for Tahoma.

In their 7 p.m. game against Kentlake, Riverside found themselves on the losing end of a 4-2 extra-inning contest, despite a stellar outing from starter Michael Rucker.

After giving up two runs in the first inning the Ravens clawed their way back into the game with a run in the sixth and another in the seventh.

Tied 2-2 at the end of seven, the Ravens gave up two runs to the Falcons in the top of the eighth and were unable to score in the bottom half of the frame.

Rucker finished with a complete game, giving up just five hits and striking out 11.

Kyle Mollenberg was awarded the win in relief of starter Sean Hartnett who pitched six innings, giving up just three hits and striking out eight.

Riverside will be either the third or fourth seed – depending on the outcome of Monday’s Mount Rainier versus Kentridge game – into the SPSL tournament, which begins this Thursday.

ALSO: The Auburn Trojans ended their season with an 8-5 win over Jefferson at Auburn this past Saturday. The Trojans were led by pitcher Andrew Sansom, who earned the win on the bump and had two hits, including a double, at the plate. Senior Justin Burns had a double and a home run, with three RBIs and a run. The Trojans finish sixth in league with an 8-8 record, 8-10 overall.
