Auburn to hold free Tennis Block Party on May 17

The City of Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department will host a Tennis Block Party on Sunday, May 17 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Auburn High School tennis courts, located at 700 E. Main St.

The City of Auburn Tennis Block Party is free and open to the public and families are welcome to attend. The festival-like event will feature interactive games, instruction, and activities such as QuickStart Tennis and Rapid Rally Tennis contest. Participants will have a chance to win prizes and learn more about summer tennis programs offered in Auburn.

Tennis Block Parties are designed to expose new and existing players to the sport in a fun and entertaining manner. Players of all ages and ability levels will have the opportunity to learn and enjoy the benefits of playing tennis.

The Auburn Parks, Arts & Recreation Department offers Tennis Lessons for both youth and adults beginning in May and running through August.

Developed by the United States Tennis Association (USTA), Tennis Block Parties will be held in over 130 markets nationwide this year to help celebrate National Tennis Month in May.

“National Tennis Month comes at an exciting time for the sport with participation at record levels in the U.S,” said Blair Thompson, USTA Pacific Northwest Community marketing manager. “Tennis Block Parties help show why so many people are playing tennis by highlighting the fun and fitness benefits for people of all ages.”
