Friday is a big night for Washington-breds in the state of Iowa.

Atta Boy Roy, Peaceful Reign and No Flies On Doodle are all entered in races at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, Iowa.

Atta Boy Roy and Peaceful Reign compete in the $125,000 Iowa Sprint Handicap for older horses at six furlongs, and No Flies On Doodle run in the $100,000 Saylorville Stakes for fillies and mares at six furlongs.

Simulcast wagering on the entire Prairie Meadows card will be available at Emerald Downs. Prairie Meadows first post is 4:30 p.m., with the Saylorville carded as Race 6 (6:44 p.m. pacific) and the Iowa Sprint Handicap as Race 8 (7:37 p.m.)

Atta Boy Roy is the 7-to-2 morning line favorite in the Iowa Sprint Handicap. The 5-year-old Tribunal ridgling has developed into one of America’s fastest sprinters for trainer Valorie Lund.

Owned by Roy Schaefer of Port Orchard, Atta Boy Roy was voted Top Sprinter after winning two stakes at Emerald Downs in 2009. This year, Atta Boy Roy has run two superb races at Churchill Downs, winning the Grade II Churchill Downs Handicap and finishing a troubled second in the Grade III Aristides Handicap. Lund, Schaefer and jockey Calvin Borel all believe that Atta Boy Roy is fast enough to compete in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint this November at Churchill Downs.

Peaceful Reign is 8-to-1 on the line, following a good third to the sensational Noosa Beach in the May 16 Seattle Handicap. Gallyn Mitchell will ride the 4-year-old Liberty Gold gelding for trainer Vann Belvoir and owner Jerry Maggard of Yakima. Claimed for $30,000 last year, Peaceful Reign defeated Noosa Beach and Winning Machine in the 2009 Seattle Slew Handicap at 1 1/16 miles, and started 2010 with a bang by winning a 5 ½-furlong allowance race by 4 ½ lengths in 1:01 2/5.

No Flies On Doodle—9-to-2 on the morning line—ships to Iowa after three gate-to-wire victories this spring at Emerald Downs, including scores in the Hastings Handicap and Washington State Legislators Stakes. Owned by Keith Swagerty, trained by Belvoir and ridden exclusively by Mitchell, No Flies On Doodle has won 7-of-10 starts with earnings of $161,052.

In addition to Peaceful Reign and No Flies On Doodle, Mitchell and Belvoir team up with Personality Kid in Friday’s first race at Prairie Meadows, which is a $6,250 claiming race for 3-year-olds and up.
