Dare Me Devil resumed his winning ways Saturday at Emerald Downs, drawing clear for 2½-length victory in the $18,900 feature race for 3-year-olds and up.

A leading contender for the meet’s Top Claimer honor, Dare Me Devil ran 6½ furlongs in 1:15.67 and paid $5.80, $3.20 and $2.60.

Ridden by David G. Lopez, Dare Me Devil has won his last four sprints*all at 6 ½ furlongs*and also finished second two weeks ago in the 1 1/16-mile Muckleshoot Tribal Classic. Rigoberto Velasquez trains the 6-year-old Washington-bred for owners Rancho Viejo and Jerry Carmody.

Fist Full of Green, a 10-to-1 long shot ridden by Gallyn Mitchell, flew late to edge I Keep Saying for second place and paid $6.60 and $3.

I Keep Saying, the even-money betting favorite ridden by Juan Gutierrez, weakened slightly to finish third and paid $2.40.

Breaking from the No. 1 post-position, Dare Me Devil settled into third place early, as I Keep Saying and Calculated Chaos battled for the lead through fractions of :22.59 and :45.30. Angled off the rail on the turn, Dare Me Devil swept past the leaders in mid-stretch and won going away.

A Devil On Ice gelding, Dare Me Devil is the meet’s 14th four-time winner, and since July 20 has wins at claiming prices of $15,000, $32,000 and $40,000, and also prevailed in a $22,575 allowance race. His overall record is 12-9-7 in 39 starts with earnings of $122,955.
