The Auburn 1 coed senior softball team from the Auburn Senior Activity Center captured all three playoff games to cap an unblemished 27-0 season.

Auburn completed the perfect run by beating Maple Valley for the division championship Wednesday at Game Farm Park, 16-9.

A total of 18 teams from area senior centers played in the annual tournament.

In doing so, Auburn 1 became the city’s first coed squad to go undefeated for the season and only the second team to go unbeaten in league play.

“It was quite a surprise,” said coach Eva Van Norman. “It feels so wonderful. It’s a thrill. It’s incredible.”

“We picked up five new players this year who really helped us,” she said. “They are a nice bunch of people.”
