The Auburn Riverside girls ended their season with a 63-50 loss to Puyallup in the West Central District III/Southwest District 4 4A basketball tournament Tuesday at Stadium High School in Tacoma.

The Ravens finished the season 12-11.

Despite the Ravens scoring a season-high eight 3-pointers, the Vikings (16-5) were able to fend off Auburn Riverside down the stretch.

“Puyallup’s experience came through in the end. They out-executed us down the stretch, so all credit goes to them,” said Ravens coach Derek Pegram.

Payton Dunne finished with a team-high 13 points for Auburn Riverside, with Rachel Davey chipping in with 12. Emily Valnes and Brittni Williams had eight points apiece.

Marissa Miller’s game-high 18 points and Addie Picha’s 16 led the Vikings.

The Ravens finished the regular season with a 7-7 South Puget Sound League North 4A record, good for fifth place.

The Ravens will lose just three seniors, Valnes, Simona Allen and Danielle Brickner, and return the bulk of their roster when they drop down to the South Puget Sound League 3A next year.

“It was a good year for us. We have a lot to build on,” Pegram said. “We’re excited to move down to 3A to be in a league with all the Auburn schools.”
