BASEBALL

AUBURN PARKS YOUTH PROGRAMS

Programs are being offered for players in grades 7-12. PONY is for grades 7-8, and COLT is for grades 9-12. The cost is $60 for Auburn residents and $75 for non-residents, and is due by April 29, with an additional $10 fee for registrations received after that date. AUBURN PARKS CUB CLINIC

This program is for boys and girls in Grades 1-2 who attend a public or private school within the Auburn and/or Dieringer school district boundaries. It is a six-week coed instructional machine-pitch program emphasizing fun, fundamentals and sportsmanship. The clinic, including practices and games, is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $30 for Auburn residents and $38 for non-residents, and is due by May 6, with an additional $10 for registrations received after that date. PEPSI PITCH, HIT & RUN

This national program will make a stop at Auburn’s Game Farm Park on Saturday, April 25 at 10 a.m. It is open to boys and girls ages 7-14 and is free. Each participant will bat, pitch, and run the bases. More information: Kent Parks at (253) 856-5000, or Auburn Parks at (253) 931-3043.

TRIPLE PLAY BASEBALL CLUB

AUBURN PARKS YOUTH FISHING DERBY

This derby is set for Saturday May 2, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at Mill Pond Park, 600 Oravetz Rd. S.E., across from Auburn Riverside High School. It is open to boys and girls age 14 and under. AUBURN PARKS ADULT FLAG FOOTBALL

This league is for players age 18 and older. It is six-a-side, pass-only on a modified field with an intermediate-size football. Teams play an eight-game schedule against teams from Auburn and Kent. GOLF

2-MAN AT THE BEND

This tournament at Riverbend Golf Course in Kent is scheduled for June 13-14. The team entry fee is $300. Competition is 36 holes of better ball play. It is open to players with an established and verifiable USGA handicap index. The deadline for paying entry fees is June 11. A Skins Game is set for Friday, June 12, from noon-1:30 p.m. The entry fee for that event is $20, along with the green fees. AUBURN YOUTH GOLF WORKSHOPS

These four-day workshops are for boys and girls ages 9-14, and will take place at Auburn Golf Course, 29630 Green River Rd. S.E. AUBURN PARKS ADULT GROUP LESSONS

These lessons for beginning and intermediate players will be offered at Auburn Golf Course, 29630 Green River Rd. S.E. The focus will be on rules, etiquette and physical skills. Beginners meet on a Tuesday-Thursday basis from 6-7 p.m. Upcoming sessions are May 5-21, June 2-18, June 30-July 16, and Aug. 4-20. Intermediates meet on a Monday-Wednesday basis from 6-7 p.m. Upcoming sessions are June 1-17 and June 29-July 20. HOCKEY

BEGINNERS PROGRAM

The Sno-King Junior Thunderbirds will offer a year-round, beginners-level program for boys and girls ages 5-10. No skating experience is necessary. The program will be on Saturdays at Castle Ice in the Renton Highlands, or at Kingsgate Ice Arena in Kirkland. Players are welcome to join at any time. ROB SUMNER HOCKEY CAMP

Seattle Thunderbird coach Rob Sumner will host the Inaugural Rob Sumner Hockey Camp July 20 to 22 at the ShoWare Center in Kent. The camp will host groups for hockey players from ages 6 to adult, including 1.5 hours of training on the ice per day and 1.5 hours of off-ice training. Cost is $120.

ICE SKATING

LEARN TO SKATE CLASSES

An eight-week series with group and private lessons for boys, girls and adults is being offered at KENT VALLEY ICE CENTRE. Instruction is based on criteria set forth by the Ice Skating Institute. Skating classes are a solid starting point for those interested in figure skating or hockey. The facility is located at 6015 S. 240th St. in Kent. SWIMMING

AUBURN POOL

The pool offers several programs. PUBLIC SWIMS are available Monday through Friday from 1-3 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. at $2.75 for adults and $2.25 for youths. LAP SWIMS are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 6-8 a.m., noon-1 p.m. and 8-9 p.m. at $3.75 for adults and $2.75 for youths. LESSONS are available on a Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday basis from 5:30-7 p.m., and on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-noon. Prices depend on age. BLOCK PARTY

The City of Auburn Parks, Arts and Recreation Department will host a Tennis Block Party on Sunday, May 17 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Auburn High School tennis courts, located at 700 E. Main St. The City of Auburn Tennis Block Party is free and open to the public and families are welcome to attend. The festival-like event will feature interactive games, instruction, and activities such as QuickStart Tennis and Rapid Rally Tennis contest. Participants will have a chance to win prizes and learn more about summer tennis programs offered in Auburn. These lessons for beginners and advanced beginners will be offered for players age 14 and older on the courts at Auburn High School, 700 E.
