Riverside grad Max Komar makes the cut – will start season as one of 53 players on National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals active roster

University of Idaho and Auburn Riverside graduate Max Komar will be among 53 players on the roster when the Arizona Cardinals meet the Rams in the team’s 2010 National Football League season opener in St. Louis.

Komar announced that he made the roster on Friday via Twitter.

“So happy right now! Officially made the active 53 man roster! Blessed!,” he tweeted.

Komar is Arizona’s leading receiver in preseason play, catching 12 passes for 200 yards and a touchdown. Komar has also seen action as a punt and kick returner, bringing back three punts for 13 yards and one kick for 25 yards

Komar, a undrafted free agent showcased his receiving skills against Tennessee in a nationally televised Monday Night Football game, catching the Cardinals only touchdown in their 24-10 loss to the Titans..

In the Cardinals first game of the preseason, Komar helped spark a Cardinal comeback against the Houston Texans with a 36-yard catch along the sidelines. Komar finished that game with two catches for 42 yards.

The 5-foot-11, 202 pound Komar will be the team’s No. 5 receiver, likely at the slot position, a spot he excelled at as a senior in college, gaining 1,052 yards and 11 touchdowns on 63 catches.
