Auburn edged crosstown rival Auburn Riverside 3-2 in South Puget Sound League Central 4A girls tennis action Tuesday at Auburn Riverside High School.

Auburn edged crosstown rival Auburn Riverside 3-2 in South Puget Sound League Central 4A girls tennis action Tuesday at Auburn Riverside High School.

The win improves Trojans to 3-1, good enough for second place in the SPSL Central 4A. The Ravens drop to 1-2 and fifth place.

Trojans ace Lauren Thornquist extended her regular season undefeated stretch with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Auburn Riverside’s Kaitlyn Clugston.

Auburn was also victorious in No. 2 singles, with Madison Millard beating Diana Yakimchuck 6-2, 6-0 and in No. 3 doubles. Becca Dayril and Cayley Vike downed Morgan Fawcett and Savana Brown 6-0, 6-1.

The Ravens earned their team points in No. 1 doubles, with Carson Heilborn and Syndnie LaValley topping Kasey Strickland and Madison Millard 6-2, 6-0, and No.2 doubles with Lindsey Sanborn and Jessica Fullford beating Madeline Jones and Alyssa McMahon 6-2, 6-1.

The Ravens travel to Federal Way on Friday, and Auburn hosts Todd Beamer at Game Farm Park. Both matches are at 3:30 p.m.
