Troy’s Tate soars

Auburn senior wins 3 out 4 individual events, finishes fourth in all-around showdown

Auburn’s Ali Tate nearly swept the show, capturing three of the four individual titles and finishing fourth in the all-around at the state 4A gymnastics championships at the Tacoma Dome Exhibition Hall.

Tate, a senior and 2016 all-around state 3A champion, won the bars (9.625), floor (9.65) and vault (9.725) and settled for fifth on the beam (9.15) in the individual event finals Saturday.

On Friday night, Tate was fourth in the all-around (37.550) behind scores of 9.15 on the bars, 9.25 on the beam, 9.6 on the floor and a winning 9.55 on the vault.

Auburn Riverside’s Hailey Kunimura finished 19th in the all-around. Auburn Mountainview’s Regan Singer and Ariana Martinez were 26th and 27th, respectively. Auburn’s Camryn Tongue was 35th.

In the indivdual event finals, Kunimura was 13th on the bar (8.6) and 14th on the vault (9.175). Singer wound up eighth on the beam (8.925) and Martinez followed in 15th (7.65).

In the team finals, Auburn Mountainview – including Martinez, Singer, Maggie Ramey, Breanna Shahan, Lauren Kramer, Annie Scheff and Jade Daniels – finished seventh.
