Pioneer Elementary and Mt. Baker Middle School are competing for a national prize.

The Auburn schools are in the running for the Stanley Security Safer Schools grant. Pioneer currently is in fifth place in nationwide online voting.

People can vote online until Dec. 13.

The school with the most votes will win a $200,000 grand prize in Stanley Security installed products and services to help secure their school. Three runners-up will receive individual prizes of $100,000 in Stanley Security installed products and services. Each vote for a school also counts as an entry for the school to receive daily prizes.
