4-story, 70-room hotel planned for south Auburn

Preliminary drawings show 71 parking stalls, but city officials say the owners are working with the City to obtain more and considering shared parking agreements with bordering properties. Because the project is an outright permitted use in the C3 heavy commercial zone, it is on the fast track for a building permit.

An agent for Choice Hotels International is expected to apply soon for a permit to begin construction on a new hotel on Auburn’s south end.

Preliminary plans submitted by Mark Siemieniec Architecture of Portland, Ore., show a four-story, 33,815-square-foot hotel, tentatively named Sleep Inn. It will be located on 1.07 acres on 6th Street between Auburn Way South and A Street Southeast, between Jack in the Box and Denny’s.

Plans call for 8,699 square feet on the ground floor and the remaining three floors to be 8,372 square feet each. It would have 70 rooms.

Proposed amenities include an indoor swimming pool, lobby check-in, covered drive, a lobby dining area and fitness and vending areas.
