Second annual Seahawks 12K Run at The Landing: 7:30-11 a.m., April 10, The Landing, 828 N. 10th Place, Renton. A benefit for the Renton/Skyway Boys & Girls Club. Veterans and other suffering from PTSD – post-traumatic stress disorder – are invited to a free showing of “EFT” (emotional freedom technique). Sarah L. Blum, ARNP nurse, Vietnam veteran and local nurse psychotherapist specialist in PTSD, will present the DVD showing. She also will demonstrate and teach the technique and answer questions.  EFT is a psychological acupressure technique routinely used and highly recommend to optimize emotional health.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA):  Train to become a volunteer advocate for abused and neglected children in court.  Help make the legal system work toward a safe, permanent home for these children.  Must be 21, have excellent references and attend 28 hours of training. Free tax preparation help: 6-9 p.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Auburn City Hall, 25 W. Main St. on the second floor.  Also,  Monday and Tuesday mornings at the Auburn Senior Activity Center, beginning Feb. 1. If you need help with your taxes, free help is available in Auburn for those making less than $50,000 per year and those over 50 years of age. Help with Spanish and Tagalog speaking clients also is available.  No appointment is necessary and agents will be available through April 15. Quality Tax preparation is provided by IRS-certificated, multilingual volunteers. This is a free service for households making less than $50,000; citizenship not necessary and electronic filling will be utilized for faster refunds. Those interested in the tax preparation assistance should bring all applicable tax forms and a bank account number (checking or savings) to have your refund directly deposited into your account. Service is only for basic tax returns only (no business taxes, rental income or sale of property or stock). For more information on the United Way Tax Preparation Program, call 206-349-9337.
