A man claims that an Auburn psychic promised to pray for his relatives but instead cheated him out of more than $30,000.

Abraham Char claims that “Mama Tanya,” the only name given the woman in court documents, gained his trust but in 2010 and 2011, then tricked him into loaning her more than $30,000 to secure an investment.

“‘Mama Tanya wrongfully induced Abraham Char to provide her with monies in return for her representation that she would pray for his relatives claimed by her to be suffering,” attorney Charles S. Hamilton III wrote in court records.

Hamilton, who filed the civil suit Sept. 5 in King County Superior Court, claims that “Mama Tanya” has ignored repeated requests to repay Char’s loan despite having promised that he could reclaim it at any time.
