Auburn’s Todd receives volunteer honors from WSU | Briefs

Charles "Chuck" F. Todd of Auburn was among Washington State University's standout volunteers recognized during the closing session of the WSU Foundation's annual meeting in Pullman on Sept. 7.

Charles “Chuck” F. Todd of Auburn was among Washington State University’s standout volunteers recognized during the closing session of the WSU Foundation’s annual meeting in Pullman on Sept. 7.

He received the Outstanding Service Award for his philanthropy and volunteer services to the university. Todd has volunteered 31 years of service to WSU’s 4-H Youth Development Program, in addition to his personal support. He has served as a mentor, organizer and chaperone in many WSU youth programs Todd also co-wrote the first nationally juried and published 4-H computer curriculum.

Each year through its Outstanding Service Awards, the WSU Foundation recognizes those persons who inspire the wider university community through their exemplary service.

Andrew Heiszler was awarded a $500 Harold P. Curtis Scholarship by the Washington State University College of Engineering and Architecture. Heiszler, a 2012 graduate of Auburn Mountianview High School, plans to graduate from WSU in May 2016 with a degree in computer engineering. He is an Eagle Scout, a Washington State Scholar and the president of the FIRST Robotics Team. Heiszler is the son of Evy and Dave Heiszler of Kent. …

Karine Leonard of Auburn High was named a semifinalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level. About 90 percent of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, and more than half of the finalists will win a scholarship. …

Auburn Riverside student Jessica Fletcher has become a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, which recognizes top scholars for their superior academic achievement. …

Tiffanie Pope, daughter of Angela and Stephen Pope, of Auburn, is attending Rocky Mountain College (Billings, Mont.) this fall. Pope plans to major in psychology. She graduated from Rainier Christian High.
