Jan. 25

My kitty, no, mine!: Overnight, 900 block of M Street Southeast. A woman claimed her neighbor’s house kitty for her own and refused to return it, according to the upset man who actually owned said beast. Police got involved, determined the cat belonged to the man, and returned it to him. Police let the woman go without any charges.

Jan. 26

Vandalism: 5 p.m., 1000 block of 8th Street Southeast. A boy, who lives with his grandmother and expected her to drive him around town for the various activities she had him enrolled in, grew highly perturbed because she did not arrive home when he thought she should have. In a fit of temper, the boy took out his displeasure on several innocent pieces of furniture and a door. He did not wait around for police to arrive.

Controlled substance: 9:28 p.m., 300 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a young man for driving without a license. While police were searching him, they found prescription pills on his person for which he had no prescription.

Jan. 27

Controlled substance: 3:42 p.m., 800 4th St. NE. Auburn High School authorities suspended a student from school and police arrested him for possessing marijuana.

Con job: 5:17 p.m., 3000 block of 14th Street Southeast. A man complained that he ended up a mark in an unspecified internet scam out of Canada.

Jan. 28

Trespassing: 10:47 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. A man whom Muckleshoot Casino security had barred on a previous occasion from entering the establishment apparently did not get the message because security found him once again in the building. Police arrested him for criminal trespass.

Jan. 29

Shoplifting: 4 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Two young women tried to shoplift undisclosed dainties from Victoria’s Secret.

DUI: 11:53 p.m., 2100 K St. SE. A woman driving through a crosswalk failed to yield to pedestrians, who had to jump out of the way to save their skins. The woman refused a breath test, so police arrested her for DUI.

Controlled substance: 10 a.m., 2400 block of F Street Southeast. A man arrested for making false statements to the police then compounded his legal woes by unloading a bag of methamphetamines in the back of the patrol vehicle on the way to the slammer.

Vandalism: 11:59 a.m., 2600 block of Forest Ridge Drive Southeast. An Auburn resident reported unspecified damage to an unspecified number of telephone poles.

Obstructing Justice: 1:48 p.m., 1400 block of 10th Street Northeast. Police arrested a woman for making false statements to a public servant during a traffic stop. A Department of Corrections escape warrant earned the woman free transportation to and accommodations at the King County Jail in Seattle.

Jan. 30

Shoplifting: 8:50 a.m., 1347 Auburn Way N. A subject — gender not given — stole various undisclosed items from Albertsons. The subject, gender still not given, fled the scene but police found said subject and arrested him or her for shoplifting.

Theft from motor vehicle: 10:29 a.m., 400 block of 37th Street Southeast. Somebody entered a vehicle and stole a purse, cash, papers and medication. Police did not disclose a value for the missing items.

Shoplifting: 4:57 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. A male tried to swipe something from an undisclosed store and flee, but police caught up after a short but spirited foot pursuit and arrested him.

Theft: 4:45 p.m., 1620 Perimeter Road SW. Somebody stole a wallet from an unlocked locker at the YMCA.

Jan. 31

Theft: 10:30 a.m., 401 West Main St. Between Jan. 21 and Jan. 31, somebody unknown stole a projector in broad daylight from West Auburn High School.

Theft: 4:46 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a woman for stealing a purse at the Muckleshoot Casino.

Burglary: 2:56 a.m., 1811 Howard Road SE. Somebody shattered a front door window and broke into Desert Sun Tanning Salon. Police did not disclose what the intruder stole if anything.

Feb. 1

Cops helping cops: 12:58 a.m., 4000 C St. SW. A felony warrant subject riding a bicycle fled from a police officer after the officer identified him. A K9 unit responded, nosed out the bad guy, and police arrested him. Later, police booked him into the Pierce County Jail.
