Auburn’s Mayer becomes an Eagle Scout

Auburn’s Nick Mayer has earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

Mayer, who joined the Scouts nine years ago as a Tiger in first grade, enjoys camping, hiking, and earning merit badges on his way to becoming an Eagle Scout.

He has been able to balance participation in scouting with a full sports schedule, including soccer and track in elementary and middle school. Now, as a freshman at Auburn Mountainview, he is involved in band, participates on the tennis team, and has made the honor roll.

Mayer, who had the opportunity to attend National Youth Leadership Training, will put his skills to use as the new senior patrol leader of Troop 401. He continues to enjoy the outdoors, with most family vacations centered around visiting a national park.
