As part of earning his Eagle Scout badge, Alex Anthony, along with 12-15 volunteers planted 27 Kousa dogwood trees in the City’s planting strips along both sides of Park Avenue located off of Auburn Way North near Veterans Memorial Park last weekend.

The trees stretch the entire length of Park Avenue from Auburn Way North to the entry way into Veterans Memorial Park.

The trees were purchased with a Neighborhood Grant and selected by the Auburn Tree Board to help beautify the street and create a tree-lined boulevard into the park.

The Satomi variety of Kousa Dogwood has a soft pink flower blooming in late May through the month of June and will offer a brilliant red fall color. The Kousa Dogwood trees are also known for their resistance to diseases and insects.
