Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded just after 5 o’clock this morning to a report of smoke and flames in one unit of a duplex at 121 T Street Southeast in Auburn.

Residents in both units evacuated before firefighters arrived.

The fire located in the kitchen area of one of the units was quickly extinguished and firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to the second unit.

The two residents in the damaged unit did not require assistance and will be making their own arrangements for shelter. The residents in the second unit will not need to relocate.

There were no reported injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
