Fire inside washer and dryer | Auburn fire blotter

Between July 10 and July 17, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 335 calls for service, among them the following.

July 10

Brush fire: 4:51 p.m. (Lakeland Hills). Responding to a 100-x-100-foot brush fire ablaze in a wooded area, firefighters extinguished the conflagration, denying it a chance to spread into larger trees.

July 11

Residential fire: 1:25 p.m. (Auburn). VRFA firefighters, South King Fire and Rescue and Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority units responding to the 2300 block of L Street Northeast for a house fire. They found wisps of smoke rising from a duplex and found the resident outside. Investigation soon revealed that the fire was inside the washer and dryer in the garage, so crews forced entry into the garage, killed the fire and searched the house for other occupants. VRFA is investigating the case.

Fireworks injury: 9:30 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to the Muckleshoot fireworks area where a mortar had blown up in a man’s face. They treated the man for eye and facial injuries and transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

July 12

Aid call: 9:14 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters performed CPR on an unresponsive man, resuscitating him. King County Medics transported him to MAMC.

July 14

Aid call: 2:15 p.m. (Auburn). Once firefighters and King County paramedics determined that a 28-year-old woman who’d fainted had in fact suffered a serious stroke, they transported her to Valley Medical Center in Renton.

July 15

Aid call: 7:48 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who had fallen off his bicycle, and then transported him to MAMC.

July 17

Brush fire: 12:48 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a hedge fire that was possibly extending to a house discovered that the fire had spread to the fence and the grass. Within mere minutes, the fire was out, sparing the house. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
