The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 148 calls for service between Jan. 11 and Jan. 17, among them the following:
Jan. 11
Car accident: 8:34 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters used extrication equipment to remove a woman trapped in a car that had sustained damage in anaccident. After a medical evaluation, King County Medics transported the woman to Harborview Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Jan. 12
Illegal burn: 4:26 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to the 100 block of Frontage Road North for an illegal burn complaint found a fire in a burn barrel. Firefighters determined that the burn was in violation of outdoor burning regulations and snuffed it.
Jan. 13
CPR: 6:34 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a man who had experienced sudden cardiac arrest. Unfortunately, extensive resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jan. 14
Aid call: 7:54 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a middle-aged woman who was experiencing shortness of breath and cold symptoms. After firefighters examined the woman, American Medical Response (AMR) transported her to Valley Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Jan. 15
Service call: 9:28 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters cut and removed a downed tree on West Valley Highway just north of West Main Street. The tree was blocking both lanes, and once it was gone the City reopened the roadway.
Jan. 16
Commercial fire: 10:20 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at Kouros restaurant at the 700 block of West Main Street to find flames inside the restaurant. A quick, effective attack on the fire helped to prevent further damage to the business. Happily, nobody was hurt. The South King Fire Investigation Task Force determined the fire was suspicious in origin and is investigating it.
Jan. 17
Aid call: 10:41 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters examined and helped a woman experiencing a dizzy spell. Firefighters transported the woman to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
