One talented Green River Community College transfer student will win the Next Step Scholarship for attendance at the University of Washington, Tacoma Branch starting fall quarter 2009.

One scholarship is awarded to each of the seven local community colleges. The scholarship amount has not been set for 2009-10, but was previously $12,900.

Applications will be judged upon the following:

• GPA and strength of coursework (3.5 cumulative minimum)

• Writing ability and personal statement

• Participation in honors programs; academic awards

• Recommendations

• Internships and/or foreign study

• Demonstrated leadership

• Community service

Applications are available on the UWT website at www.tacoma.washington.edu/scholarships Completed applications should be returned to the Financial Aid Office by April 20.
