Pacific went green with its annual Earth Day celebration Saturday.

The City’s park board adopted the Green Cities campaign, which aims to help cities accelerate their transition to a cleaner, healthier and more economically viable future through improvements in efficiency, investments in renewable technology and regulation reform.

Businesses such as Lowe’s and Puget Sound Energy were on hand to showcase LED lighting, recycling and other ways to become more ecologically and environmentally friendly.

A drop-off center collected garbage, recycling and yard waste in the City Hall parking lot, 100 Third Ave. SE.

In addition to vendors, a booth collected donations for the “Always Brothers” 100-mile ultra-run, which will come through Pacific on July 26. The nonprofit organization raises awareness about the ultimate sacrifice made by serviceman in defense of their country and helps support the families of fallen military men and women. Founded by a core of Marine veterans, the organization also supports sailors, airmen, soldiers and Coast Guard members.
