Police blotter | April 24

Auburn Police responded to the following calls for service between April 19 and April 22:

April 19

Vandalism: 1005 37th St. SE. Vandals splattered numerous walls at Gildo Rey Elementary with paint, resulting in unspecified damages.

Vandalism by beer can: 9:19 p.m., 4900 block of Auburn Way S. While somebody was driving in the 4900 block of Kersey Way Southeast, an occupant of a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction chucked a partially full can of beer out of the window, striking the person’s front windshield. Nobody was hurt and police don’t know if the act was intentional.

Assault: 2:54 p.m., 1300 block of Auburn Way North. Albertson’s store security confronted four boys for shoplifting. Two of the boys dropped the items, and all four fled after one of them assaulted a patron by pushing him in the chest. Three boys got away and could not be found. Security detained a fourth, but returned him to his parents after determining there was nothing to arrest him for.

April 20

Theft of vehicle parts: Overnight, 3420 Auburn Way N. Somebody stole four tires and wheels from the Auburn Valley Hyundai parking lot. Police did not disclose a value for the missing items.

Child abuse: Noon, 31st Street Southeast. A girl came to school with severe bruising on her leg, buttocks and stomach area. She reported that her mother hit her but the alleged assailant was actually her step-mother. Police arrested the woman for assault of a child and booked her into jail.

Disorderly conduct: 7:27 a.m., 300 block of East Main Street. Police arrested a person, gender not given, for disorderly conduct and failure to obey a police officer after he or she purposely stood in the roadway stopping traffic, then drove away in a vehicle after which he or she would not stop when signaled to do so.

Controlled substance: 12:41 p.m., 25 W. Main St. A person, gender not given, who was about to be released from the Auburn Jail was arrested for possession of methamphetamines after police found said drug hidden inside his or her clothing while preparing the person’s walking papers.

April 21

Postal theft: 10:27 a.m., 2100 block of J Street Northeast. Somebody stole a get-well greeting card from a mailbox.

Shoplifting: 7 p.m., 801 Auburn Way N. Police arrested a man at Fred Meyer for stealing Metamucil tablets, booked and later released him from the Auburn Jail.

Forgery: 11:30 p.m., 2402 Auburn Way S. Police arrested a man at the Muckleshoot Casino for trying to cash numerous forged travellers checks.

April 22

Theft from motor vehicle: 1:50 a.m., 600 block of 7th Street Northeast. Two unknown suspects tried to steal unspecified items from a vehicle but the owner scared them off.
