Auburn police responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Oct. 25 and Oct. 26:
Oct. 26
Vandalism: 11:08 a.m., 1100 block of Auburn Way South. A person or persons unknown vandalized an undisclosed number of vehicles in an undisclosed way, resulting in damages unknown.
Theft: 1:22 p.m., West Valley Hwy. An Auburn business owner reported that while he or she was delivering parts to another Auburn business someone stole the mounting bracket for his or her GPS unit but left the gizmo. Police did not disclose a value.
Theft: 12:49 p.m., 3000 block of Scenic Drive Southeast. A man called to report that within the last year somebody had stolen his black Beretta Tomcat .32 caliber gun from a secured safe. Police did not disclose a value for the missing weapon.
Car theft: 1:15 p.m., 1200 block of 30th Street Northeast. An Auburn resident, gender undisclosed, reported the theft of a vehicle that he or she had been storing for friends serving in the military in Guam. Police did not disclose a value.
Vandalism: 6 p.m., 1100 block of 8th Street Southeast. In a fit of anger, a boy broke his grandmother’s glass top coffee table. After calling 911 to summon police, the grandmother decided she did not want the boy arrested and hauled off.
Theft: 5:30 p.m., 900 block of 12th Street Northeast. A woman told police that she suspects her elderly mother’s former caseworker has stolen an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry from her.
Shoplifting: 6:08 p.m., 4010 A St. SE. An employee of an Auburn area grocery store reported recovering 21 cans of beer from the backpack of a person who tried to filch them. While emptying the backpack for an employee, the would-be shoplifter threw one can on the ground, it burst open and he fled without so much as a drop of the fermented drink.
Fraud: 8:04 p.m., 220 15th St. NE. Police contacted a woman while she was trying to pass a counterfeit $50 dollar bill at the Dairy Queen. The woman was released at the scene.
Theft: Overnight, 1400 block of 50th St. SE. Somebody stole a furnace from a home under construction. Police did not disclose a value.
Oct. 25
Trespassing: 10:19 a.m., 201 Auburn Way S. A male – old young, police didn’t say – was told to get out and stay out of a Shell Station after he tried to help himself to a can of beer without bothering to pay.
Street robbery with knife: 2:12 p.m., 1341 Auburn Way N. An unknown man approached a woman who was using an ATM machine at the north end Bank of America and held a knife to her arm. The bad guy grabbed the woman’s wallet and fled in a newer, white-colored Chevrolet Truck, possibly with a “New Wire Dynamic” sticker on the front of the vehicle. Police did not disclose the amount of the loss.
Purse theft: 4 p.m., 28900 block of 124th Ave. SE. Persons unknown stole an unattended purse with $500 in it from somewhere.
Shoplifting: 5:34 p.m., 1101 Supermall Way SW. Four males, no ages given, shoplifted several pairs of shoes from some unnamed store at the Auburn SuperMall. Police did not disclose a value.
Vandalism: 8:38 p.m., 1900 block of A Street Southeast. An elderly mother, afraid that her 34-year-old son would assault her, ran from her apartment and used a neighbor’s phone to call 911 to report that her intoxicated boy was destroying the interior of her dwelling. Police found the son had broken some dishes on the floor and had hurled food, mustard and other condiments about the kitchen, hallway and living room. His mother asked police to arrest and remove him from the apartment. He also asked police to arrest him and get him out of the apartment. Police complied and arrested him for misdemeanor domestic vandalism.
