The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 173 calls for service between Feb. 17 and 23, among them the following:
Feb. 17
Fire call: 8:50 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a burning storage building in the back yard of duplex found a 10-by-10-foot storage building fully involved in fire, which they swiftly extinguished with a hand line. Investigators were looking into the cause and origin of the fire.
Feb. 18
Aid call: 7:28 p.m., (Lakeland Hills). After firefighters evaluated a toddler who was suffering seizure-like activity, a private ambulance transported the child to an area hospital.
Feb. 19
Aid call: 6:35 p.m., (Algona). Having been asked to help facilitate the transportation of a person to Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Seattle, VRFA crews helped coordinate a special care ambulance for the person, who was on full life support.
Feb. 20
Aid call: 3:28 p.m., (Pacific). After firefighters helped an older woman who’d been feeling dizzy and lightheaded, a private ambulance drove her to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way.
Feb. 21
Minor fire: 10:56 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 200 block of Second Street Southeast for a possible house fire observed a small home with light smoke inside. By the time firefighters got there, residents had already snuffed the small fire, which had broken out in one of the bedrooms. Firefighters then called out an investigator, who determined that an electrical problem was to blame.
Feb. 22
Aid call: 4:26 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medic One responded to an older woman who was struggling to breathe. Crews treated the woman on scene before medics drove her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC).
Feb. 23
Rollover: 8:05 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a single-car rollover on eastbound Highway 18 found a heavily-damaged passenger vehicle that had rolled several times. The driver had already gotten herself out before firefighters arrived. The woman suffered only minor injuries and was taken to MAMC for followup care.
