April 5

Minor fire: 7:34 a.m. (Algona). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to Tim’s Cascade Chips production warehouse for an unknown type fire. On arrival firefighters saw that a large fryer with a hood-and-duct system had activated to kill a small grease fire. On-site personnel were placed on a 24-hour fire watch until a qualified technician could reset the system.

April 6

Aid call: 2:28 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to help a woman complaining of fatigue after suffering from sickness for the past month without any improvement. Firefighters evaluated her, and a private ambulance transported her to Auburn Regional Medical Center.

April 7

Apartment Fire: 8:25 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a sprinkler water flow alarm at an apartment complex found a cooking fire that had extended into the cabinetry above a stove. The sprinkler system activated and snuffed the fire. Firefighters removed water from the involved unit.

April 8

Natural gas leak: 2:16 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responding to 700 Milwaukee Ave. N. for a natural gas leak learned that a forklift had hit a gas line and that a maintenance crew had secured the gas at the meter, monitored the air and ventilated the building. A Puget Sound Energy representative used advanced equipment to monitor the interior atmosphere and found no significant readings.

April 9

Aid call: 5:26 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to the 900 Block of 22nd Street Northeast to help an 88-year-old woman who had fallen after getting up from a sofa. Firefighters treated the woman for a nose injury, and American Medical Response transported her to ARMC.
