Between June 28 and July 4, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 160 911 Requests for service, among them the following:

June 28

Service call: 10 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters proceeded to a home with smoke detectors chirping away, where they helped the home owner replace the batteries. Firefighters also discovered a faulty C/O monitor so they took it out of service.

June 29

Aid call: 7:23 p.m., (Algona). Firefighters responded to a girl who had cut her finger on a can lid, treated her and left her in her mother’s care.

June 30

Aid call: 1:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a man who was struggling to breathe because of problems with his home nebulizer unit. Firefighters got the machine running again, and the patient stayed at home.

July 1

Aid call: 10:30 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters and King County Medics to help a middle-aged man suffering from chest pains, which turned out to be a significant cardiac event. The patient was transported to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) for further evaluation and care.

July 2

Assault: 2:23 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an assault in the 5500 block of Kersey Way Southeast examined a man with facial injuries. A private ambulance transported the man to ARMC.

July 3

Aid call: 3:23 p.m., (Pacific). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to help a woman with an uncontrolled nosebleed. During their assessment, firefighters learned that the woman was also suffering chest pain. King County paramedics were requested, and just prior to their arrival, the woman lost consciousness. She was treated for signs and symptoms of a severe stroke-like brain injury, and King County Medics transported her to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

July 4

Aid call: 7:17 p.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a young boy who had been struck on the forehead with a firework. Firefighters treated the boy and transported him to ARMC for further evaluation.
