A woman died Friday morning in a one-vehicle accident after deliberately driving her car off the road into steep ravine in the 2000 block of Mountain View Drive.

Auburn Police identified the woman as Sharon Parsley, 38, of Federal Way.

Parlsey’s husband told Federal Way Police at 7:40 a.m. that his wife had made suicidal remarks and specified that she was going to drive off a cliff. A passerby found the vehicle at about 8:40 a.m.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to a report of a vehicle over an embankment at 8:41 a.m. and found a car that could not be seen from the roadway. On-scene emergency crews secured an anchor point to rappel rope rescue personnel down to assess the situation. The vehicle was secured and personnel determined it was occupied.

Parsley was removed from the car and taken to a treatment area, but she was declared dead at the scene.

The road remained closed throughout the early morning.
