In January I was admitted to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for a severe foot infection that ended with a three-toe amputation.
Regarding Chase Bank’s parking spaces in downtown Auburn: Not only does the bank have several parking spaces on the lot the building is on, and granted, owns 16 more spaces alongside Safeway, but why do they need seven more spaces opposite the Safeway spots?
On a recent Sunday my car was among eight attempting to exit the area of the Wendy’s/gas station at the entrance of The Outlet Connection – the intersection between Wendy’s and the Red Robin restaurant. This was almost an impossible feat as there is no other exit.
If we name “pot holes” after politicians instead of giving their names to civic buildings, perhaps there would be less of the latter and fewer of the former.
Regarding Mark Silberling letter to the editor (“Auburn doesn’t need costly community center”) that appeared in the Feb. 14 issue of the Auburn Reporter:
I wholeheartedly agree with Mark Silberling. There are plenty of meeting/activity places all over Auburn. If such a place were really needed, there is an abundance of empty commercial buildings in Auburn. But we do not need such a place?
As a longtime Auburn resident, I support the recent letter to the editor from Robin Dale, CEO, Washington Health Care Association. This is, indeed, “Time to support senior care” (Auburn Reporter, Feb. 14).
We hear so many horror stories in the news, I think many of us need to hear this.
Now that you’ve heard the sugar-coated story about this wonderful community center (“Community center draws closer to reality”, Auburn Reporter, Feb. 7), perhaps it’s time you learned a bit more of the truth of the story.
As an 80-year-old elder, why do I travel to Kent from Auburn where I live? What attracts me to make that trek for all these many years? Well, I will tell you: it’s the peace and joy to walk the 9-hole course and hit the ball, ever trying to conquer that elusive par score.
Vandals – kids, I’m sure – have now broken out seven windows of my vacant rental at 1102 Third St. SE, Auburn.
Well, I know this sounds like a broken record because I’ve written about it many times before but it needs to be said again. The high cost of water from the City of Auburn has gotten way out of hand.
For the next 18 years, approximately 8,000 baby boomers will turn 65 every day. By 2030, one in five Washingtonians will be considered elderly – and many will need long-term care. Reliance on government support for long-term care needs will continue to grow as baby boomers age.
Election day is around the corner and like many of you, I read the voter’s guide to find out details on what I will be voting on.
The Auburn School District has put too much emphasis on the outside of our schools and not enough into them.
I just have to say, short and sweet, I am in complete agreement with Adam Braun’s letter in the Jan. 31 Reporter (“Support the school levy, not the tech levy”) regarding the $22 million Auburn School District’s technology levy.
Better late than never. May I still wish to say congratulations to Mayor Nancy Backus for having won the election as the first woman mayor of the City of Auburn? Same thing with Ms. Yolanda Trout for having been elected as the first Hispanic person to the City Council.
Are evaluations ever going to be done in a timely manner so that inmates will not have to wait days and months? This is a serious problem in the court system. It has been more than three weeks, and my son is still waiting in jail for his evaluation.
Giddy-up, giddy-up, giddy-up-up-up. Riding their pride they came to the game.
With no regard for the residents, small business owners, customers and employees of businesses in downtown Auburn, I was told by one of the officers that a directive to the parking patrol was issued from the “top” to patrol the Safeway parking lot on Wednesday (Jan. 22).
