2 elderly adults critically injured in crash on Highway 18

Two elderly adults were transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries after a two-car accident Friday night on Highway 18 in Auburn.

Two elderly adults were transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries after a two-car accident Friday night on Highway 18 in Auburn.

Several passing motorists called 911 at 7:10 p.m. to report seeing a vehicle on its top near the off ramp to Southeast 304th Street from eastbound Highway 18.

Valley Regional Fire Authority firefighters arrived and freed two patients trapped in the upside down car. Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated the male and female occupants, both in their 70s, for life-threatening injuries. Both patients were transported to Harborview Medical Center: the male driver by Airlift Northwest, the female passenger by King County Medic One.

The driver of a second vehicle involved in the accident was treated by firefighters for minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital.

The off ramp to SE 304th Street from eastbound Highway 18 remains closed. The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
