Firefighters from the Valley Regional Fire Authority are currently fighting a house fire at 1027 K St. NE in Auburn. The home, a single-story wood frame, is believed to be vacant, but contains a large amount of personal contents, some of which continue to burn at this time (4:35 p.m. Saturday).

A passerby called 911 at 3:32 p.m. after witnessing heavy smoke coming from the roof of the home. When firefighters arrived at the home four minutes later, they found flames coming from the first floor and the attic. Firefighters initially entered the home, but backed out due to the large amount of burning debris and instability of the structure.

Crews from five VRFA fire engines and one aid car are currently fighting the fire from the outside of the home and have the fire under control. King County Medic One is providing rehabilitation services for firefighters.

A fire investigator from the South King County Investigation Task Force is currently on-scene, but has not been able to enter the structure, so the cause of the fire is not known. Damage to the home is extensive.
